What this series is about

This series is about practicing real, everyday English through speaking, listening, and simple activities.

Why this series is useful

This course is useful because it helps you communicate more clearly and feel more comfortable using English in daily life.

Registration requirements

  • Registration is first-come, first-served and will close after 80 people - all others will be put on a waiting list. 

  • Before completing your registration, you must complete a general english level test. First open this link in a new tab: https://www.cambridgeenglish.org/test-your-english/general-english/

  • Complete the level test (about 20 minutes). Note down your score! 

  • You will be placed in a class group according to your score. 

  • *You may not use google translate. 

  • Because this course is designed for A2/B1 levels, participants with an advanced level of English will not be accepted. 

Course dates & times

There are two phases of this program - 

  1. The winter phase will run from February 16 - April 10, 2026

  2. The spring phase will run from April 13 - June 5, 2026

*A second registration for the Spring phase will be required at a later date. 

There are four options for class sessions. Each group will meet for 90 minutes, 2 times a week, for a total of 3 hours a week, for eight weeks. Each group will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at different times (see below). In the registration you will have the chance to choose your preferred meeting time and we will do our best to accommodate your schedule as much as possible. 

Class meeting times: 

Group 1: Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30 - 12:00 MSK

Group 2: Mondays and Wednesdays at 12:15 - 13:45 MSK

Group 3: Mondays and Wednesdays at 17:00 - 18:30 MSK

Group 4: Mondays and Wednesdays at 18:30 - 20:00 MSK

Technical requirements

This workshop will take place online via Zoom.
If you are interested in joining, please create a Zoom account beforehand. When registering, submit your valid email address to receive the Zoom link before the session.

Certificates: Earn an e-certificate from the Regional English Language Office!

To qualify for an e-certificate, you need to:

  1. Attend at least 12 sessions
  2. Actively participate in the course sessions
  3. Complete a final project assessment

About the teachers: 

Keith Boswell is a dedicated language educator and faculty member specializing in World Languages at Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA. With a BA in International Business and an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language, Keith brings a global perspective to his teaching. He has served as Director of English Language Programs at Virginia Commonwealth University, Longwood University, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and he has taught English as a Foreign Language in Hungary, Switzerland, Peru, and Egypt. Fluent in English, Spanish, and Arabic, Keith has a passion for intercultural communication and innovative language instruction. He currently teaches Spanish I, II, III, & IV at Daytona State College and English as a Second Language with the State Department's Virtual Educator Program.  His last project with the State Department was English for Special Purposes (English for the Semiconductor Industry) with university students at Colima University in Colima, Mexico.  Keith grew up in Chiclayo, Peru where his parents (Americans working abroad) taught English as a Second Language, and he spent 11 years raising his two sons in Egypt. Today, he enjoys spending time with family and friends in Florida, USA, exploring science fiction—especially Star Wars—and working on creative projects for his classes.  His life reflects a commitment to education, cultural exchange, and lifelong learning.

Betsy Lewis-Moreno has worked as an English and Humanities teacher in the high school division of Hong Kong International School since 2006. Before that, she worked as a Secondary ESOL teacher specialist in San Antonio, Texas and as an ESOL and Spanish Language Arts teacher in Los Angeles, California. She has presented at a number of international conferences on differentiation and vocabulary development and enjoys collaborating with other educators. She is a a National Board Certified Teacher, fluent Spanish speaker, and an avid cook, traveller, reader and textile collector.
